Where does the time go? I always plan to post updates more often and when I finally get around to it I'm surprised by how much time has passed since the last one. Lately I have been spending waaaaaay too much time on Facebook. So far I have resisted the games like Farm Life because I've heard how addicting they are. I have enough trouble with the food fights, water balloon fights, chug its, water gun fights, pillow fights, sending hugs, virtual xstitch stuff, ect. :op
Summer has been pretty busy. Not doing anything important really. Just things like the garden and fixing up around the house. I haven't had Emma much this summer. Her mom, Tracey, is not working anymore but she'll be starting at the technical college at the end of the month.
A few weeks ago we surprised Jerry's mom with a 70th birthday get together. Jerry's brother and sister organized it. It was a lot of fun and it's always nice to see everyone. They had a cake made for her that had a picture of her at 20 years old from 1959! It was an extra special celebration because we didn't expect her to reach this birthday. I didn't say much about it on here when it was happening, but less than 2 months ago we almost lost her. It went as far as them calling us to the hospital because they didn't expect her to make it past 10pm that night. There was a lot involved that I won't go into but we all believe we witnessed a true miracle. We know that they just didn't realize what a stubborn woman she can be. :o) She wasn't ready to go, so she didn't. You can see from the picture that she looks wonderful!
Last weekend we finally got new living room furniture. We had our other furniture for almost 20 years and it went through all the kids I babysat for (about 10) plus our own 3. When the wires start popping out the back of the chairs, it's time for something new! Actually they've been like that for years. We didn't get anything expensive. Actually they were all Hot Buys at Slumberland. :op (Slumberland just opened here) We got a sofa and 2 rocker/recliners. The sofa came with a free loveseat. We tried to get a deal on the recliners by not taking the loveseat (because we didn't have room for it) but couldn't since they were all Hot Buys. Oh well, we tried. So Amy and Louie are buying the loveseat for 1/2 of what it would have cost. Still a pretty good deal for them. :o) Here's what it looks like:
And apparently even though she wouldn't come out of the bedroom all day after the delivery guys came, Princess Punkin has deemed it worthy of her sleeping on it. :o)
As hard as it is for me to believe, my grandson Louie turned 7 years old on Tuesday. It seems like just yesterday he was a baby! He's turning into such a little man. He's having a Wii party with some friends on Sunday so we just went over on Tuesday night for cupcakes and ice cream. We gave him a Best Buy gift card so he can get a video game or the new iCarly DVD he's been saving up for. Here's a few pics from that night.
I have been doing a little bit of stitching. I would get way more done if I stayed off Facebook. :op This design is going to look very familiar. This is the 3rd time I've stitched it. I could count on one hand the number of charts I've stitched twice and I think this is the only one I have stitched 3 times! :o) I did finish them all differently though. The first, for my physical therapist for my wrist was a pin keep. The second was a pillow for the daughter of a good friend and this time was framed for that same friend. :o) Her daughter wouldn't give the pillow up so she asked if I would stitch one for her too. :o)
I've been trying hard to lose some weight. I won't say how much but it's enough. So far I've lost almost 10 pounds in a little over a month. What's helping more than the dieting is I finally found an exercise that I almost enjoy doing. A long time ago I had a VHS of Sweatin' to the Oldies. I'm not sure what happened to it but I don't hava a VCR in the living room anymore so it doesn't matter. I finally decided to buy a DVD from Amazon.com
I know, I know, Richard Simmons?? But I think he's funny and hey, if it works!I got the boxed set that includes Sweatin to the Oldies 1,2,3 & 4. Plus an inspirational dvd (which I haven't watched yet). I decided to start with #2 since I had already seen #1. I (almost) love doing it. Ok, maybe not when I'm actually doing it but I sure feel good after (once I quit sweating!). I've been doing it for about 3 weeks. I'm planning on switching to #3 at the beginning of Sept. Now that I finally learned the routine and can keep up! Lol.
Well, enough for today. Thanks for reading. :o)
